Enquiry on modified lights

Got a good question to ask.
Regarding modified lights like e.g neon tube, blinker etc etc.

According to Onemotoring, it says that Fitting decorative lamps to vehicles are not allowed as they may cause confusion and distraction to other road users.

What I heard from a fren working in TP division, he says no using of those lights when driving as if you dun on...how can they know.

From Lta inspection center, they says as long as it is not connected to any automatic switch like head lamps, door sensor, brake sensor etc etc.

What I want to know is that is the installation of it but not using when driving on road but for decoration purpose legal?

Driving and using it is definately not legal. but is the installation of it legal?

You know its illegal to use it on the road, why bother to install it and use them for decoration purpose? Unless you are telling me that that car will never be driven.

The TP on road will not allow such lamps to be used if he finds out even if it is for decorative purpose because it is only a switch away from being illegal. Why is it illegal, imho probably because it will cause confusion to other drivers with foreign lights emitted. Distraction to the drivers' attention.

Good analogy will be getting on the highway with an almost empty tank. It doesn't harm anyone if u make it to the station, but if it runs out of fuel while on highway( i.e turning on the decorative lamp), you are breaking the law. Pre-emptive motives.

Yes it is illegal, but depends if ROV/TP want to catch u anot, if u change to those white lights for head lamp is actually ok, but neon and blinker too obvious they most probably will ask u go inspection, fine up to $600 more or less.

It is illegal to install as well even if u don't on it, during inspection they can see mah, but if u juz finish inspection u can install, then when no ROV/TP around etc. in east coast park, u can on to attract gals. If like that shouldn't be a problem.
Juz dun on on expressway or when driving, if not sure kena caught and fine...

Is HID headlamp considered a decoration light??? btw, how do they noe if ur car comes wif HID headlamps as standard or not???

LTA has a standard list of cars that come equipped with HID. cannot run one lah. even which motorcycle got wad kind of mud guard they also have photo Laughing

Sianzz..got answer from Lta engineers. Installing outside is immediate a big "NO". Immediate fail for inspection.

But then again, installing in the interior not connected to Headlamps, signal lights, door sensor, reverse sensor or what so ever is acutally they close 1 eye let it pass. As long as during the inspection when they testing the lightings or horn, it does not turn on can liao. Additional switch for it is also close 1 eye.

Hai.... got to change from the exterior to interior liao.. sianzz.. got to re-run the wire.. waste time sia..

Wah! so on arh?! Shocked but some models esp parallel import they gt so many models how 2 keep track? they can hv sooo many grades even 4 estima n harrier???

so if wana put HID mus take out b4 inspection??? or can tp catch on the spot???

ahberden? any car/bike model come into singapore will have to pass their inspection. that means LTA will keep a record of everything that comes equipped with every single make/model. but can try ur luck with the HIDs lah. usually the more "family oriented" cars with HID can bluff say come already like dat. if u drive tiong chia better dun try.
