LittleTiger SG normally V12 engine comes with 48 or 60 valve and it could take a week just to tune all the valves. The more valve the harder to get it tuned. Valve gap too big mean louder and more vibration and also no power. gap too small = no power.
siaokao SG Excuses plenty ar.. such as ur 8.6 secs slower than 9 secs.. coz ur logic is that in "racing" ppl round to nearest 0.1 sces.. but wait.. 8.6 is already rounded to the nearest 0.1 sec liao! But die die.. u insist 8.6 slower than 9 secs..
Kuali Baba SG Wider angle -- lower centre of gravity -- improved cornering characteristics Narrower angle -- greater block rigidity -- lighter and reduced vibrations
nOrmalbOi SG just purely for discussion then.. would that mean that the boxer engines are the weakest and have the least block rigidity? and erm... i noe this is stupid.. but im not sure about the engineering so erm.. if they can make engines in a V configuration... why not try to make it in an A aka inverted V configuration?
TwinTurbo_Supra SG boxer engines are harder to cool from what i have heard. upside down later all the oil and crap start dropping out how?
Kuali Baba SG I'm not entirely sure how Porsche's engines are built to last, but when Renault introduced 111-degree V10s in 2001, they were fragile. You could make an A-configuration engine, but it'd make the cylinders difficult to access from above.
AE86tofu SG and the flywheel plus clutch would be on top which is a bad thing as u need more prop shafts...more moving parts=more chances of failure....
AE86tofu SG wad u mean valve gap 2 big? if u are talkign abt valve lift the more life the better wad....the wider the valve overlap also better....siaokao's fav config...
tomsss SG ... which in the end switched to water-cooled Actually it's air/oil-cooled engines. It was even used in the 993 Turbo S... which is their last air/oil-cooled machine. Quite a feat eh, considering that a normal 993 Carrera already has so much heat coming from the back. Add TC, a furnace behind there!
LittleTiger SG NO, u think too much of vtec and vvtL-i liao. its the gap between the valve and crankshaft rod.
AE86tofu SG orh tappet clearence ar....and its camshaft.... and VVTI,VTEC and VANOS are variable...I'm talking abt Fixed cam profile....
AE86tofu SG yup air and oil cooled....for that engine u needed 15 LITERS of lube!!! imagine the amt of oil sloshing arnd when u do hard cornering
