I mean not like he didn't commit the thing and as mentioned all got jail sentences, no reason to alleviate. As some CJ said b4 justice must be seen to be done also.

not sure if they should recover costs of scholarship invested from him though.

Revoke is OK, but jail? Maybe not, given our ties with China. China will make a big hoohaa out of it. Remember the pei du ma ma incident?

Anyway, he got the scholarship because he worked for it, not through cheating (I give him the benefit of doubt), so I don't think it would be nice to recover the costs of scholarship from him. Revoking it is enough, and put him under probation.

I doubt china would make a big hooha out of this incident. The pei du ma ma thingy was prob because it was a sizeable amount of pple and there is some nationalistic element. In this case its an unimportant individual and no real nationalistic element.

Given he did something to deserve revoking it, i think it might be appopriate to retrieve the costs invested in him. I look upon it as some form of bond-breaking in a sense.

Whether China will make noise, we don't know. That isn't so important. We can try it and see China's reactions.

But the thing is that we revoke his scholarship and still make him pay, just like how some people break bonds is wrong to me. He didn't break it, we choose to terminate it. Unless of course the terms of the scholarship said something which meant that... then I'm fine with that.

I'm thinking the scholarship should come with a clause to say no overt actions to the detriment of the image of the sponsor and the scholarship. If not a physical clause then at least a moral obligation.
