Unless you belong to the privileged class of youngsters who have wealthy parents, it's always wiser to stick to the bus and divert your spare cash to other luxuries instead of having the convenience of a car plus the inconvenience of having to scrimp and save elsewhere Plus, perhaps you'll meet more cute girls on the buses than when you drive.

LH83 SG My school is at Clementi... and I stay at Bedok... and I DO have 8am classes as well... and I've been taking public transport back and forth for 2 years already... not counting another 2 yrs when I served NS at Kranji camp... so that's 4 yrs taking public transport across the island... so who do you think is worse off??
