If you know where to download nokia maps, it'll tell you how to
load in the maps for free without a wifi connection. I can put in
the entire map of europe before I leave for amsterdam, but thats
63mb off my memory card, so I'll wait. 
As for the guides feature in the maps which tells you
where the famous chicken rice stalls are, you have to purchase it.
