just quit semicon industry not long ago. was in 2 dif semicon
factory.
1)no free time- it depends on which company u go to. TECH for eg,
yes, no free time at all. my fren diploma had a gross of 60k last
yr. for mine, free time alot, ot also depends.
2)easy life- also depends ur job designation. i was in testing
department. and hell ya, it was not easy life. operators call u for
1 simple question with regards to the machine. if "click" with
them, less problems of coz 
3)process enginners in my 1st company were very free.
i have left this industry abt 3 mths, back to 8-5 mon-fri
job.
honestly i still prefer shift work in a semicon
