question on buying ipod in USA/Japan

my gd fren is going to the US and i'm going to Japan during the end of yr hols.

ipods in both countries are cheaper.

80gb ipod in US is SGD382(249USD) and japan it is SGD388(yen29800, w/o tax yen 28381(SGD369)

got some qns
is the ipod warranty international? if not, how much is it in japan?
is it possible to buy it at tokyo airport tax free? if not is there any way to get back my tax amt(japan VAT is 5 %)

it's universal. if not u can always check again. it shld say 110V~240V, 50~60Hz.

it's the plug type u have to worry a bit here. akibahara shld cater to those who needs british 3-pin.

may not be.... typically if the product is for the domestic market, the charger only goes up to 110 v..... plus.... the head is also different. then got to spring more money to buy the local version, can amount to almost the same minus local warranty.

well at least for japan it's pretty safe. i could bring any charger here and use it there, just need a universal plug adaptor. all our common chargers support 110V thru to 240V. Laughing

Warranty: Online. Login with serial to check anywhere, anytime.

Charger: Does not come with charger. It charges with USB. Those lucky dude who got 1 is because of promotions.

Voltage: Chargers are universal too. Works in any country safely. (Exception: some 3rd world countries) All that matters is a travel kit adaptor (switch plugs of different kinds).

really? how about if the ipod i buy from japan spoils, can i swap it here? that's what i'm concerned about, my 5.0G ipod video which i had for 6 mths before it got stolen had to be replaced three times, due to hdd failure and the likes

international warranty means it could be serviced at all apple centres in the world.
