Timing Belt damaged?

(im not in sg now anyway)
We have rented a CRV and when we brought it on off-road trails the car's undercarriage hit small/medium rocks abt 8 times and after driving for abt 350km from point A to point B,sound from the engine could be heard ard 1000-2000rpm..after 2krpm the sound go away..
It happen whether the car is stationary or moving..
could it be the engine timing belt?
the acceleration is still normal and i dont see anything wrong with the aircon,lights,steering wheels etc etc
i tink the long drive from point A to B must have aggravated the condition as before travelling to B we did not heard the sound...

Maybe you should identify where the sound come from?

If sound come from your engine, probablity there is some problem with it and maybe it need some tuning.

From any belts, maybe the belt is loose, need some tightening.

Anyway, just my assumption only, best approach is to check a car mechanic.

if ya wanna really find out where's the sound coming from, the best way would be to hoist up the car with the engine running and have someone to rev the car and another to see and hear where the sound from.... ya in other words go to a mechanic Mr. Green

there could be many other parts of engine and gearbox that the sound could come after rough trip, and the timming belt should be the last concern, coz that doesn't have anything to do with rough tarrain.. or hitting with stone humps... timming belt or timming chain is inside the engine and its load is to drive camshafts..

anyway, solution to your problem is... just return the car.. :p
