I realised that I haven't added anything constructive yet, so
here's another post giving some direction if you are truly
interested, and feel you have enough drive to follow through on
playing the piano.
Cristofori teaches pop piano, which probably comes closest to what
you are seeking (I can think of no other reason why you want to
learn chords only), but they are epensive, and their teachers of
questionable quality, although by virtue of their size, and
locations, are usually exam venues of choice.
There's a smaller music school in hougang, called My Inspiration (I
don't remember the site) - the principal used to be my piano
teacher from grades 1-8 although for my diploma I went with someone
else. I doubt she conducts the lessons for pop piano, and as I do
not know who conducts the lessons, I will refrain from commenting.
The school fees are reasonable, but more importantly, it is a very
very very well equipped music school; I don't really recall the
specifics, but vaguely, most of their pianos are imported in from
Japan, and being a relatively new music school, the condition is
pretty much top notch (compared with Cristofori's crappy
house-brand pianos).
My Inspiration also has a tiny in-house library, you might find
something similar to what you seek (chord book) there.
One site to source for music teachers is Luthersmusic.com - that's
a local music shop; their site has classifieds of instructors ... I
don't really recall where their shop is located ... last time I
went they were at IMM, but I heard they have since moved. The guy
who runs the place, Luther, is a very qualified musician and
pianist. You might want to pop in and speak to him (if you have the
chance) - he's a friendly chap and has on more than one occasion
provided advice to anyone keen.
