in all honesty, it makes coupling much easier ... for me at
least that's the biggest benefit (and one that i now find hard to
live without); it is awkward to bring girls back, even more awkward
for them when they meet my mom in the morning - mind you, it's not
that my mom minds or anything (educated/lib democratic lady she is)
- but still ... you know ...
in other words, living alone means living your own life. i do what
i want, when i want.
don't get me wrong, i'm not abandoning my responsibilities as a
son; i'm very close to my mom. however, while i'm young, and while
she's young, i want to make the most of my life; eventually, when i
do settle down, i intend for her to live with me and my
partner.
mom and i have a very liberal arrangement; she has my house keys
and can come over whenever she wants (tho she always calls ahead);
in addition to that, i always make it a point to have lunch/dinner
with my mom .. besides, she has her life too ... she's got her own
career, her own friends
combination of these factors makes living alone for me very viable
and the benefits definitely outweigh the costs.
and plz, if you're old enough to afford living on your own, you can
definitely find the time to do whatever chores you have ... else,
if you're like me (work is my excuse), i hire a housekeeper to come
in once a fortnight to clean ($100 each time) and do all my laundry
(suits i dryclean) - and i only eat out (i only keep plastic
utensils (use and throw), microwaveable junk in my kitchen).
besides, where i stay, there's a cafe of sorts on the property, and
5 min drive brings me straight to towncentre.
