Hi,

What is a good digital camera to buy?

It can be either a DSLR or digital compact.

The cheapest DSLR is Nikon D40, which i saw in Orchard point selling at $650. That salesman try to sell me at $920, when I say too expensive, he slash to $700.. When I walk out of the shop, he slash to $650

Yea, John 3:16 is a good shop. But sometimes have to be patient with them to wait for your turn to be served especially during peak hours, mostly evenings and whole of saturdays. But they are honest ppl and they give good advice. That's why they are quite popular.
I am a user of the Fujifilm F30, the model before F31fd. Pretty good camera and especially good for night shots. The low light mode is pretty good. Shot of various price lists at SLS for later comparison quite a number of times without the shop keepers' noticing. Laughing Works very well with the fireworks mode too.
