dirty wheel rims

Hi guys, why is it the the wheel rims get dirty so easily? Everytime after i wash it nice and clean, all it takes is a few days before you start to spot the brake dust, road grime etc. on it… I think it gets dirty faster with wheels that have disk brakes… right?

that’s for sure, caliper brakes even dirtier.

disc brakes get dirtier cos of the brake dust that comes of when u do braking. .. sounds logical enough.

heard you have to wash ur rims regularly cos the brake dust will "eat" into ur rims and become permanant

depends on the brake pads u use..sopme pads have minimal brake dust and no need wash every week 1..as for dirt i really dont know..

usually i see ford focus hav dirty front rims..

the louder u PIAK. the more brake dust will fall off the rims.

I think the design of the rims also plays a part.

Some rims have designs that appears to trap more dirt on its surface Rolling Eyes

I believe european cars are using a different kind of brake pad which produces more brake dust which is why the focus has dirty front rims. Same with many 3 series and C class. Correct me if I am wrong.
