I heard that retaining of car plate or buying old car plate can only be used on new car.

If I bought a car plate and want to use on my existing car, can it be done? If yes, what is the procedure and how much would the fees be?

can be done. The plate n the car must be the same owner. Pay $1300 to transfer the Old Plate to a OLD Car.

Please go to LTA n obtain a form. Calling their helpline most time don give u an answer esp matters regarding number plates.

I just called them up. The operator initially said cannot but towards the end said can retain and replace by paying a fee of $1300.

But the example she gave me is "let's say I have 2 cars. I can use Car A plate number on Car B."

What about those nice car plate number I bought from the Straits Times Classified?

Can. U need to transfer the ownership of that car with the plate u bought.

Then go to LTA n process it. Pay them $1300 to put this plate on yr existing car.

Thats right. Note that you'll also have to pay transfer fee to tranfer the ownership, which can be quite expensive, and also get insurance for the car for the transfer to be effective.

And, after transfering car ownership, if you want to swap the plate between the two cars, it'll be $1300 EACH. Confused

don't forget to factor in the cost of the car plate.
just head down to LTA one day and everything will be solve. Smile

depend on what car and how old the car!! Near new Roll Royce is abt $25000. Very old car can be just $20.
