Hello everyone!!! I have just passed my TP and looking for a car. I am thinking of getting either a second hand OPC or a brand new OPC. Will the salesperson not to serve me if i am getting an new OPC in the showroom? There is a $17000 COE rebate for new OPC and an annual road tax discount of $800 but minimum have to pay $50 per year. In my mind i have a few chioce of cars ---- 1.4M Hyundai Verna or 1.4M Chevrolet Aveo sedan/ hatchback. Please advise. Very Happy

second hand opc is a no-no because car price has stumbled so much till second hand opc could be priced higher than a new opc

road tax $50 only when you buy small cc cars like picanto 1.1

u will be served in the showroom even if u buy an opc. my only experience is the slower response time from the dealer when it comes to COE bidding and delivery. i suspect the dealer has less profit with opc.

VERNA - still at introduction price but alright for first-time car owner. look out for Hyundai's promotions before you book. u can get good deals during certain promotions

AVEO - new exterior but same interior. they have many versions , so you got to take your pick carefully. Rumour that a completely new version will replace this model in March 06

Both VERNA and AVEO are in the compact car category. If u have a few thousands to spare, u can also consider VIOS

So, OPC has zero COE?

Will the "excess" overflow to cover other area for rebate?

Rio is ok too. Review says that it has the same interior as Verna, only the lack of ABS and driver's air-bag. My personal opinion for u is to choose Hyundai Verna over Kia Rio because Hyundai is more established in Korea then Kia. Also I heard of bad comments over how C&C handle past Kia Picanto orders, search for it in this forum.

If the 17K rebate is more than COE, the COE in the log card will be ZERO and ARF is used to minus the rest of the rebate value. Hee hee, that is why i go for OPC. Someone pay you to drive a car with some rules.

However, if you convert back to normal car, the COE is still the same as you have bidded. The actual value of the COE can be obtained from LTA's e-services.

My friend bought a OPC Lancer , he said Vios is small & expensive.
I dun know how true
As compact car - let say if I got a family of 4 - two kids 5, 7 & maid (now) , will a compact car be ok ?

when buy car the car audio/cd player system is included ? Sound system can test how good ?
For leather seats will they get spoil easily ? I had leather sofa & after 2 years some parts dry & tear.

You have done your homework well. Anyway, OPC car in the eyes of those dealers is still priced like a normal car. It just seems like you did a S$17k downpayment. Wink Aveo is a nice car, I would have gotten it if it was this cheap when I got my car.

hi, i'm a new road user. wanting to buy a OPC but not sure which is better.

Road tax is only $50? for 1 month or 1 year? i ask a hyundai 2.0 OPC it says my road tax is appro $714 for 1 year... wats the $50 road tax??? and insurance is still 1-2k?? my uncle told me that OPC its cheap for road tax and insurance, road tax i believe its cheaper but insurance is still that much!!?

And any suggestion for an OPC sports car or 1600cc higher car to reccommend? or should i get 2nd hand OPC? help pls..
