Toyota Camry from Japan or Thailand is better?

Hi there,

The first batch of toyota camry is made in Japan and the current ones is from Thailand.

Which is better? In terms of performance, design etc.

1st of all, you cannot get new "made in japan" camry in sg anymore.

2ndly, the Thia's camry looks fine to me. Smile

Heard that the thai built toyotas are inferior in terms of quality.. but personally i prefer the design of the thai built ones to the japanese built ones.

Heard from one of my driver friends that cars built in Thailand have a weaker chassis and body frame as the metallic material used are alloys and more prone to rusting and corrosion.

But the performance is about the same as the Japanese make. The fuel ratio is slightly lower as the weight is slightly lighter.

For performance wise it will still be the same, after all they still follow the ones from Japan.
However, in term of export value, the one in japan fetches a higher one compare to the ones from Thailand. Wink

i believe the Thai made ones are more of South east asian specs, meaning that unnessary parts are removed to lower the cost, leading pple to believe that thai made toyotas are inferior.

japan faced all 4 seaons but south east asia only face 2, hence there are some parts in the jap cars that can be removed to be have more economic sense.

Really? I thought the Thai version got a longer equipment list? That's why Borneo refused to lower the price when they brought the lower cost thai version in, and the latter reason being why i refused to buy a camry. Laughing

May be more economic sense to the manufacturer but definitely not the consumers.

Did they pass the savings from thai plant to the buyers by reducing the price? It seems like they save more on the manufacturing but at the same time, cost us more to buy.

So who's the only winner? The manufacturer!

Anyway, Tan Chong also distributes Subaru cars as well Wink

anyway its more economic to use Thai labour cos of the exchange rate, hence lower labour cost.

in a way its expliotation, but it does push the Thai economy forward
