Some lives are more 'worth' than others. Unless its beyond saving, like sure die one, then also no choice, but when they have the money, and the connections and relations, anything can be done, including pulling down the moon or making one more Merlion or having the entire Lim Chu Kang as him/her grave...
We have to ask ourselves, how much our lives are worth? Maybe $200000? Their lives in the eyes of political planners are worth many zeros behind we cannot even count...

Well i think the person who complain about this incident is being very unfair.

He go up to the officer and fail to communicate properly !!! I mean put yourself in the custom officer shoe, suddenly someone walk up to you and pass you the passports - of course she think that this idiot want to cut queue. He should have taken more time to explain to the car in front to ask the owner to let him go first + the officer ... !!! I am sure everyone will let him first.
The person - say the officer process 2 cars more before his car !!! Dumbass !! he should just run to the 2 car that is waiting to process and just tell them - my dad got heart attack in car behind you, need go hospital - pls let us go 1st !!! then they will let he go first to the officer, that time the officer sure to process him first.

There is so many officer there in different counter, or the main office, he just ask once, and dumb dumb wait in line !!! he should have ask others for help also.

Well, I m first aid trained. But to be frank, if I do see stranger collaspe, I will hestitate to help. Probably, rooted to the ground due to fear and lack of confidence... CPR break bones one leh, then somemore it only have a small percentage to recover, then somemore somemore the longer u delay, the more damage the victim have...

should've, could've. sitting down and typing is actually quite different from being in that situation. also, the immigration officer did not give this fella a chance to explain, and we do not know the exact situation at that time.

CPR will break bones only if executed improperly by untrained personnel.

haiz ... many many years ago, I witness a policeman giving CPR at Changi.. I knew the way he did it was wrong as at that time we were trained in the army and I dare approached to do it. There were so many gather around and I could see that the policeman was very nervous too .. I was fighting against my consious whether I should go up and do it ... I mean what if I am wrong too, will I be blame for the death .. there were so many consideration ... the worst is that I took mc to go to beach with my family. ... In the end, I chickened out .. I really Crying or Very sad Embarassed regretted that I did not help ..

You will not be blamed for the death if you have a valid certificate or that can show you have went through the course before.
But like always, make sure the other party is doing wrongly then approach, or else might end up the one doing wrongly...

Ristar - !!! The fact is the fella did not try enough to explain to the officer ! Just because the officer close the glass , he blur blur sotong wait for 2 more cars !!! You could have keep knocking on the glass or door and screaming at the officer, I am sure he/she or someone will sure want to know what the hell is with you and more then glad to call for backup !!! He could have also stop the other 2 car and just say - my dad is having heart attack , need to go hospital , let me go first also !!!!

What you expect at custom side officer automatic walk up and check everyone face to see if they are all ok !! They sometime do random check. If in the situation , it is that fella to call for help !!! not expect everyone to auto see what is going on !!! There is something call honk on the car !!! I am sure if you at the custom stop, you honk non stop - all custom officers will be running to see who the idiot !!!

Performing CPR is a course but not a profession to most of us...
Of coz, performing CPR on a victim with no breath and no pulse is better than leaving tat victim dying on the floor. Every second counts... But, if u decide to get involve, his life is an add on responsibility to yr shoulder...
Well, for me to get involve, really need to have the REASONS to overcome my fear barrier... It really depends if my heart is touched to do it or not...

I dont think front-line officers manning checkpoints are supposed to be trained in CPR. They are there to check illegal immigrants which is their priority. CPR should be done by medical officer and not immigration officer as they are inexperience.
