New Mitsubishi lancer advices needed.. thanks!

Hi to all in car forum.. newbie here.. haa.

1) Just bought a mitsubishi lancer today and the SE told me i need to wait till late april/early may for the car to come.. i wonder why so long.. isnt lancer a very common car? shld have stock in sg.. hmm.

2) niwae.. bought a mica black lancer 1.6 cvt sports.. been in this forums for almost a year but just registered after i get the car.. heard from u guys that the FC and the auto transmission is not that great.. hmm.. do u guys think manual will be a lot better? the SE still allows me to change my mind for the manual version this monday as i will go down for a testdrive of both..

why must you get the exact same car as mine and exact same colour??????

yah... because it is a common car that's why you must wait for stock, ppl always make it out of stock mah.

anyway, those problems you mention don't really bother me.

FC is ... 375-450km 3/4 tank. I haven't driven it consistent enough to give it an accurate litre/km or km/litre

Transmission, being CVT, it just "feels and sounds" underpowered, but actual fact they are using the most appropriate gear for that speed and condition.

Me ordered mid-Nov, collected early Jan.

I drove Sunny before this... hmm. Somehow sunny feels more "stable", but acceleration, Lancer feels better.

Sunny accerleration macam some weak engine.

Overall, i still have mixed feelings lah, there are some things i like about Sunny, but they are things i also like about lancer.

THings i like about lancer.

1) 15 inch tires, and it's a Yokohama aSpec DB.

2) looks sportier

3) slightly better FC

4) cheaper (unfair to say lah.. Sunny that time more ex)

Things i don't like...

1) Insurance more expensive.

2) Servicing more expensive

3) no soundproofing like Sunny.

4) Car feels light and soft.

the reason for waiting has got nothing to do with whether its common or not..it all boils down to time and space..you book at right time u can even get it in 3 weeks..one day later and u haf to wait for 3 months..reason?? its based on shipments...batch by batch..and why SE say white will be longer..simply bcoz they brought in lesser white this shipment and you might haf to wait for the later one..I book jan..get feb..1 month only...based on shipment and stock availability for my model..

consumption..me too havent been driving regularly..based on how i drive now..with gear change at ard 2500 - 3000rpm...and travelling 70 - 80% on small roads 20% highway..and running on 17" tyres..im getting ard 11.5 - 12km per litre..not outstanding though for a manual

as to whether manual or CVT better i suggest you decide for yourself which one are you more comfortable with..CVT will provide more ride comfort as its less jerky...manual will give you the extra power when u need it..i get the manual bcoz i simply love manual driving..CVT makes me wanna sleep...

Yup agree... although the waiting time is long.. but i guess its all worth the wait.. haa.. sure cannot sleep the day before.. haa..

btw.. i heard some cases whereby the SE keep postphoning the arrivial time of the car.. is it true? If the SE gives reasons or excuses about the car coming later then the promised date.. can we even do anything?

My car actually came 3 weeks earlier than scheduled.

But i think the delivery date they put in the sales agreement is a very conservative date on their part.

But it is beyond's SE control already... it's really more on the ship. Once it arrives singapore, i think just need to wait 5 - 10 days more then you can get it.

If your car comes later than promised date, you got a choice to cancel the entire contract, but it is a very lehceh process which SE will find ways and means to prevent you from doing so.

Hee... mi booked a lancer on 11 Frbruary... SE say ETR late Mar / Apr...
Called him last week, say shipment might come earlier next Friday...

Hopefulli can get the COE at next bid... otherwise have to chase him to give me a open COE or wait till Apr bid... Hee... lookin forward for my ride...

hmm. lolz. seems like there are lots of black lancers running everywhere.. just now drove my dad's van and saw 2 identical BLACK lancers parking beside each other.. haha thought to myself.. well .. thats the car i am waiting for.. haha.. sorry guys.. for contributing for more black lancers on the road.. Dunno because it is black or weather just too hot now.

Ever since i drive my black lancer..... macam evertime kena bird droppings one.

then because its black, don't want paint to spoil... need to wash off rightaway.

last time my silver sunny no problem one leh, rarely kena bird.

maybe weather too hot the birds need to pang jio more often.

your sports cvt comes with the EVO wing anot? i’m a lancer oldbird anything can ask me, but 1 thing lancer body is gd, cause kena hit from the back wont really incure much damage to ur 2 “dua kut” of your car… i’m a guo lai ren.

I suppose $53K is a good bargain. What was your car selling price when you make your purchase? What is the loan amount and the years of loan if I may also ask as this contributes to the discount one gets Wink

The car selling price is 54488.. you can ask for a discount.. if you are taking a 7 years loan.. you will have 2k rebate.. and you must loan 70% of the price for the rebate.

Went to take a second look at my Sales Agreement which states that the estimated delivery is from May to July. The SE said that my car will arrive in the mid June shipment as I have indicated for black fabric interior (there was no black fabric interior last year). Starting to wonder if that has an effect. Also, if my car's shipment is only in mid June then why did it state May?! Could it be that someone decided to forgo his car/colour and I end up in the front queue? Wink

Anyone know why insurance for lancer is more expensive than other similar range cars?

Also, regarding "car feels light and soft", what is the downside effect to this? How much lighter is it compared to the Altis, Sunny, etc? And would there be any safety issues on this point?

For the Lancer CVT Auto, what is the most common colour that will allow the fastest delivery?

I am thinking of getting the silver; is this one of the more common ones?
