its about 16 hours continuous driving. I suggest why not you break it up to 2 sessions.

Like from sg to ipoh, then stay overnight there, next morning continue from ipoh to bangkok.

From SG to IPOH, you can have 3 stop-overs, at coffee-shops, designated stop-over points, etc.
Same from Ipoh to bkk, you can have another 3 stop-over points. Very Happy

I’ve seen thai plates in sg so i dont think the plate needs to be translated.. at most when pple take license plate number they just have to draw.. hmm. what car is it? SUV n off roading cars etc. shld be fine with floods.. unless really deep..

i cannot understand u guys? wht so scare in malaysia road? u can speed how fast u want , just standby some $$ in hand only, and if really doubt of the safety, i think u guys better dont' travel to malaysia , if not u wiil complaint about this la that la, bumpie la, no one will force u to drive to malaysia...
for my experience , so boring to drive in spore road, for comfortable for sure la.

well, this Mr Contact has been very pessimistic.

I am not gureentying the safety 100%, but as much as my experience and knowledge, its pretty much safe to drive through malaysia in NS highway. i have no worries at all. there are many thousands of cars driving everyday.

and to compare the drive trip to taking flight, its different thing. its not about the cost and time. its more about enjoying driving trip. there are lots of different things and locations to go through. its totally enjoyable which can never get when you take flight (get off here and get down there, is more like going there instead of travelling there).

its pretty safe in malaysia lah.. i dunno about the southern parts of thailand... heard news here and there. maybe it is still safer for a thailand plate cars.

so bro, just drive through, but have a little care on the way.. and enjoy.. Smile

are you a singapoeran? technically under sg law a singaporean is not allowed to drive foreign vehicles on sg roads. fyi....

Hi Stanley,

If you're familiar with the roads, and if traffic is OK (ie. drive at night).....

BKK - Sadao Pass: 12-14 hours
Sadao Pass - JB: 10-12 hours

Of course, you have to be a mechanical person to do that. No one ever does that continuously - they usually take breaks along the way, so it'll take about 2-3 days to reach Singapore.

Take note though.....that you will need insurance and permits to get your car into Singapore.

Also, don't forget that you'll have to bring your car back again the same way....all the way to Pattaya. Oooooh.....

from Penang to Singapore is 7 hours depending on the traffic....plus abt 1-2 hours for the Penang to the southern border and then add the hours from pattaya to the border...

but be careful hor..last time tsunami got a big SUV overturn while on the way to thailand with aids from singapore

thats not very far together tho...next time when i got my license im thinking of driving to Germany or to Britain.....try the legendary autobahn...
