Saw that civic is sold at a huge discount by PI. Went down to check and the catch is must take close to 100% loan 7 yrs. Rather misleading Rolling Eyes

Most PI will want u take a high loan to enjoy the “discounted” price. If u don take loan the price can be much higher by 5k to 8k depends on model n make.

I've enquired for cars two PI shops before....

Price was not very far from the agent's. No sports rims, no leather seats, no options of any sort (almost naked car), no hifi....no nothing! And must take almost 100% loan for 10 years. Can't even test drive the car.

Contact terms, warranty terms and service standards are questionable too....overall package quite insecure, compared with the agent's.

Wah lau....gave up and walked out.

I've heard of some people who had good deals from PIs...but not me.

Went with a friend to see some PI cars. From those companies we visited, we came out feeling that it is should be impossible to pay at the price stated. Either end up paying additional money as interest to the bank or as "compensation" to the PI to make up for his loss income he expect to get from the bank commission. Dunno if anyone could enlighten us a way that we will only have to folk out the price stated? Laughing

Actually, not only the PIs practise this. Even the main car distributors here do this too. Some require as little as a 3-year low-value loan (ie. formality loan).....some ask for as high as 7-year high-value loan. Otherwise, the buyer is slapped with a hefty price addition - usually a few thousand S$.

Its just how much each distributor/seller practices it, thats all.

If you can get a loan without penalties for paying up....just take a little loan as you can, collect the car, then settle the loan with cash.

Car distributors normally word it differently. They list a price, then give you a “discount” if you take up a loan. Differently worded but the same thing. But in both case, if take up less than their min loan, will get less “discount” from main distributors or pay the difference of commission the PI is expecting to get.
