As far as I know, the so-called 2006 Vios is a facelift model
without any enhancement to the engine or chasis. So the ride should
feel generally the same.
In terms of the changes to the car, the first change you will
notice are the headlights and the grill. The shape of the headlight
is slightly different and the grill is now more pronounced. If you
ask me, I feel the grill looks a bit like that of the Proton Gen.2.
If you buy the top-end version, the fog light is also of a
different shape compared to the pre-facelife model. Those who have
keen eyes will also notice a slight change in the rear lamp
cluster, nothing fantastic about the change though. Last but not
least, the Vios has a different type of antenna now. The previous
type of antenna is long and not adjustable. If I am not wrong, I
think the name for the type of antenna is "bee-sting". The
"bee-sting" antenna have adjustable angle. Toyota Wish has that
version too.
I also heard that the new Vios does not come with any sports kit
this time round no matter what version you buy.
Internally, not much has change. The display has slight
modifications and it is really nothing to shout about. The new
audio system is quite good though cos it plays MP3s this time
round. Finally, the new Vios has a centre console box behind the
handbrake. In the previous version, the Vios only have a tray. The
new centre console box kind of double up as a armrest for the
driver.
Hope this is useful.
