If you are driving an european car.. (as your nick suggest) try
the yokohama C-Drive. Its low cost and have very decent wet
performance, works especially well on european cars. Btw, I'm using
them on my Xsara. and paid $115 for each tyre (195/55/15) in dec
05. 
My 1st set lasted me for abt 14 mths.. if u dun drive like I do.. i
think 2 years.. no problem.
