By the way, vios is 1.5l and lancer is 1.6l. How to compare them if there're not even in the same specifications platform.

It just like comparing apple to orange...

Buying a car is a matter of satisfying your needs and budget.

If you travel alot, then go for vios. If you want space, then take lancer. If you think Jap made is superior than Thai made, choose lancer. If you really really like "Toyota" brand and die die must have it, then buy vios.

By the way, look wise is very personal. So can't comment much on that.

So end of the day, it's all up to you to decide.

in the end picked lancer.. in terms of FC, i dun think its that bad.. and with regards to FC, its also about your driving styles and habits.. and me being a little bigger in size, i knew my choice when i test drove the vios.. its really too small for me..

But motor mag also compare Vios/ Rio/Verna/City mah when Verna & City are 1.6 ?
Is Vios really small ? I have not try a Lancer b4.

threadstarter, i hope you dont mind me cutting in. but i'm also in the same dilemma as you are. vios or lancer.

for me, vios is a normal car whereas a lancer has a sporty look. yes, i can add side skirts, spoiler to the vios but it would look weird.

I would suggest you to buy a VAN. Then you can have both good FC and big space. So far don't think any car can offer both.

altis FC is not tt bad, if u can really control ur right feet...and FC depends highly on highway/city ratio. for me, my ride is travelling 70% city 30% highway, can achieve 11km/l

Go test-drive both of them and come back here if you are still pluzzled. Usually the option is quite clear since both cars are quite different.

Every car can achieve its own optimum FC figuare if you are light-footed and travel mostly on highways. But is Altis's best as good as Jazz's best?

But if FC is really important to anyone. Then it would be very CLEAR that Auto cars are out.

If you like sporty, lancer lah. Now got the new 2006 FL model. Nice to me...mine is the 2005 version but still nice. Behind passenger seat also spacious compared to vios. Yr mum or family wont complaint. Cool

With the current COE drop and interest rate hike, not much diff to notice..
If u going for brand name, availability of spare parts and reliability..then go for Toyota. With the Vios 1.5L, and decent driving habits, you'll def get better FC compared to the Lancer.

But if u prefer spaciousness and that touch of sportiness, then go for the Lancer. With the Lancer, at least your rear seat passengers won't be complaining of crampiness.

Word to the wise, both cars are widely popular and are regularly seen on SG roads...so either choice would garner you a rather common ride

Vios new version have no body kit.
Actually what purpose for body kit ?

Looks good. Usually the use of body kit and spoiler only kicks in when the car is moving at near 200km/h or more. Else effect is almost nil.

honda’s 1.5L airwave is a nice car too. so is the edix…but its only available in 1.7L or 2L capacity.
