There are various candid pictures sent by various contributors.

For example girl butt walking on the streets, lady's breast on bus and ladies on MRT station.

Is this legal? Or should I say is this illegal. Can I just use my camera and take pictures of people in a public place without them knowing.

I have to assume that the contributors here have their cameras hidden, so what if they are "caught" taking pictures of ladies and confronted. Can they be sued or arrested.

Why are you still considering whether it's legal or illegal? It's downright rude to snap photos of someone without their permission. If you want a photo of them, go ask them. Don't resort to taking candid shots. Have some respect. Evil or Very Mad

I am just curious on on where the law stands.

For example, if someone snap a pic of my gf, what can I do?

For your information, it's NOT illegal to take pictures of those people you don't know. There's no privacy law in Singapore.

But...but...

If you use the camera to outrage the modesty of a woman, you are going to go in. Penal Code 590, fine and jail.

How do the law define "outrage the modesty of a woman"? Is it as long as the woman feel that she "had been outraged", then her modesty is being outraged?

So if someone take a pic of my gf and she feel that her modesty is being outraged, can I go ahead and call the police?

It's from the objective look. Like under that circumstances what the normal people will think. Of course, if the woman lie then that's violating the law also.

But who cares, the damage is already done to the guy.
Seen lots of this kinda cases already.

although sometime it rude to tk their pix w/o permission but hw many will allow u to post their pix when u ask them 4 permission?
actually mayb all e gers wum mind letting ppl to put their pix or allow thier pix to b up in e webby whether being asked w or w/o permission as long dat no negative comments abt e pix!!!
no negative, hurtful or sexual comments abt e pix or with e subject of e pix.. but sumtime ppl r just like dat... whenever ppl post up a pix they will hv to come up with negative, hurtful or sexual comments.. even if u r not e subject of e pix,u oso feel disgusted at some of those comments...
anyway to me candid shot is all right as long as ppl who took those shots r not to capture those revealing parts or when they accidentally `zhao-geng'
if candid shot r just based on face, it can b v nice n nature n not candid shot of those curvy assets of gers..
