i suggest..

u can take a look at KIA, Hyundai or Proton~

Proton Gen2 cars look rather nice~ Smile

if this is ur first car, i suggest u buy a 1+ or 2+ yr old second hand car.. its normally much cheaper and can come with a number of perks.. and if u are a newbie, u can get used to driving this for a yr or 2, to train ur skills a bit, before selling and get a new car..

the back lash is.. u must know cars well to really know the faults.. second.. the interest is slightly higher..

It is common and there's a very good reason for that... cos it is THE most value-for-money car to many -> reliable, comfortable, decent cabin space, good japanese built quality.

For 50k, the other options would be the korean cars (including the chevrolets, which are actually rebadged daewoos).. and that's about it.

Thank for so much of ur response, I will look further into Daihatsu Siron, KIA, Chevrolet. I would like Mitsubishi Lancer also, but how u guys tink of it? It cost around 50k also, not the sports one though.

Just curious about the concept of having a second hand car if one is having his/her 1st car.

If the driver is inexperienced, won't he be better with a new car just in case the car break down ?

If the driver is paying the same amount every month, why not get a new car ?

Can some one please enlighten me on this issue ?

Not too common for under 50k..... i will suggest the Daihatsu lor..... built in japan.

Get the Sirion, YRV .... or slight more, the YRV turbo. Or a suzuki swift, but getting slightly common nowsaday.

Hmm, i took a look at those cars as stated, I noticed that it is rather small. How about like.. Mitsubishi Lancer? As in space wise is bigger and less than $55,000.
So what you all think?

Lancer gulps petrol...though the shape is fine with many owners. Are you looking more at hatchback, or sedan? Hatchback wise the Getz is a good deal, or Parallel Import 1.3L Fit. Vios (sedan) is common becuase it is value for money. Sunny is cheap but very well furnished inside, though dun expect it to be thrifty on oil. Honda's out of range, Suzuki is slightly on the high side though a good ride if you can afford. Very Teutonic european design. Sirion is thrifty and a good budget buy. Well, take your time to choose, COE prices are not expected to jump antime soon Wink

Hey, thanks for such a quick detailed explanation for each type of cars. Well, actually i am looking more for sedan kind. Lancer looks good to me, and toyota Corolla Altis, or maybe Honda civic.. As for the rest.. hmm.. i am looking for a more economical and yet “spacious” kind of car, if you know what i mean. not cramp la =) For a family of 4.

of coz auto uses more petrol. get the Vios ah. although common, the space is reasonably enough and i believe you can afford it comfortably. Wink

Hi.. I suggest you go test drive the Mit b4 u go any further. I personally do not like the Mit as the car feels.. err.. rather "hollow", the CVT is bad and the engine is very noisy when pushed.

Sunny is ok (alot of car for its price) except it drinks a little more.
