Especially when you need the revs up when attacking a corner - switching between Steermatic and S mode gets you optimum revs and speed - the temple of vtec asia did 10.5s with it for 0-100km man. Wink

Anyway, recent magazine "Motoring" have a few sedan reviewed. Do check it out. They usually list the pro and cons of it model. City is 1 of them.

Passion - i was like you comparing btw a lancer and a vios as i am/was going to share with my gf....

i reached a decision, the Vios.

Why?

1. Vios = DOHC (high compression/more power)
Lancer = SOHC (Low compression/good for turbo charging)*

2. Vios = 4 Disc brakes (Better stopping power)
Lancer = 2 Disc 2 drums(rear) ... (although drums better on lower speeds)

3. Vios = VVTi (power/torque when i need it)
Lancer = ??? (Not even MIVEC)

* = correct if wrong

I see, that has to deal with the performance wise of aspect. Another question for me to consider will be like… Spacious-ness? and the overall cost of it? You mind revealing more information how much u brought it for? or how much you are going to pay it. =)

Hey, get a Lancer. it's selling for $50,488 now and that's list price, usually salesman can give you a $1000-1500 discount depending on how good you talk to him.

If you are not considering a loan, then you might not be able to get the add ons.

The salesman might ask you to get a loan but you can repay it in 2 months so that he gets the commission, and you get the promotion deals.

Why i suggest lancer to you is because i think it is the cheapest decent looking made in japan car that is still economical in both price and fuel. haha.

plus.. i just collected my lancer 2 days ago and happy with it.

P/S: Lancer's interior more spacious than SUnny.

Well the space was enough for me (big sized) my girlfriend (who hogs the front seat) and 1 dumb husky (which thinks the backsit is her playground) my girlfriend's papa (the huge light blub) and sh*t loads of baggage as i frequent Sin - KL ..

I got it because of the low maintan. cost as i was provided with 5 free servicing and guess wad? my engine oil was due to change on 4000k and now is 12++k leow Embarassed . i paid about 52, XXX with sports interior, i hated the CVT automatic on the Lancer, i prefer the conventional 4 speed ones ... i have plenty of space to put my girlfriend's nonsense on the dash board.

But that aside, thats my second car, or rather its more for my girlfriend, if she din't mind the X i would have got it .... but due to her financial constrain we settled for something more humble then flashy Very Happy

oh ya.. thanks for mentioning both cars.. althought the moment i looked at it, it looks rather small, but i will look more into it.. perhaps look at the car’s performance to see if it worths the money.. =)

If $50k is your absolute max, then I would say the best value cars are:-

1. Kia Rio
2. Hyundai Getz
3. Toyota Vios

Depends on where your priorities lie but my personal choice would be the Getz as I find the Vios a bit boring shape-wise and I have doubts over the Rio's build quality. Smile

I have test driven the new Getz 1.4A and found it to be reasonably responsive. Downside was the ride was a bit bouncy. Went over some undulations on Alexandra Road ata round 80km/h and had to slow down coz the car started to bounce too much.

If you want a bit more performance then the 1.6M is a bargain at around $47k.

I'm also in the market for a new car but as my budget is $60k, I'm planning to get the Swift 1.5A at $53,500. Excellent ride/handling; good refinement and nice interior. Only downside is the Auto box is a bit sluggish.

Thank Dijon for sharing your point of view. =) Btw, I am still under consideration for the range of cars that i can buy.. and also arranging time to go down for a test drive. =)

2ndly, regarding Nissan Sunny, i agree that it is a good car, but this car has been around for quite a while.. thus, i would prefer a car with a different new design. Hope you would understand.

Btw, I think that the price of car, will continue to drop..
