Question

anybody knows why the street lights in the tunnels' start and end are amber, while those in the middle of the tunnels are white?

If you go other countries' tunnel... it will also have simply amber/white lights combination. it's for eye adjustment.

But the funny thing is... when i go other countries's tunnel.. it will really remind me of singapore..

the same lighting, the same ventilation, the same lane open/close signals.

the amber lights are for our eyes to get used to the different level of contrast..

from a super bright environment to a dark environment, our eyes cannot adapt too quickly and thus cause our eyes to lose focus...

next time when you leave the tunnel, try looking back at with rear view mirror. you will see that the tunnel is really damn dark without the amber lights.

if u got watch tv b4, wen lets say a fire starts, the fire wud not be brighter, but the surrounding wud be darker for a while… dunno wether its related lah

You are right. The boost lighting is to let the driver adapt to the tunnel lighting when entering and exiting the portal.
