1. The June copy of Army News features the boxy, non-APS 2A4s
and describes them as "upgraded". I wonder what is meant by this,
aside from addition of the BMS?

2. These non-APS tanks have been quite prominent in recent
mindef photos and videos including one of an urban warfare exercise
with Terrex motorized infantry. An indication that as important MBT
protection is in urban warfare, infantry are a better form of
protection than APS? Or an indication of uncommon or experimental
status of APS-equipped tanks?
3. Also, what is the definition of "spare tanks"? Spare parts
hulls, experimental tanks, NDP tanks, or tanks for reservists /
kept in storage = no practical difference except to appear less
aggressive?
4. IIRC the figure of 350 AMX-13s consisted of spares as well,
including spare parts hulls. Correct me if I'm wrong, but were some
converted into other vehicles or were these recovery vehicles,
AVLBs etc bought the way they are?
