i got climb b4 Exclamation nvr make it to summit though...

to me it was easier than ophir but it was mentally killing me coz 5hr++ continuously walk up mountain sibei sian..

u haf to go up summit at 2am morning.. i nvr go up summit coz to lazy n tired

You have to book with the Park authorities. Alternatively, book through the travel agents. Those agents who specialise in adventure trips would know.

I 'semi-retire' liao Mr. Green Not fit already lah.
I went up twice. The second time up was a better experience because I was able to pace myself at the top and was able to enjoy the sunrise Very Happy

The last "tall" mountain I climbed was Gunung Tahan. That was the toughest I ever climbed. I agree Ophir is a tougher climb than Kinabalu.

For those going, try to go whitewater rafting after the climb. Or go to one of the islands. Fantastic experience and a way to relax after the climb, that is if you can walk properly Twisted Evil

I just climbed Mt. Kinabalu last month. Definitely something not to be missed. The scenary alone from the top is worth all the hard work up and down the mountain.

Oh, i went in April, started planning in Dec last year. Even a 5mth gap is not enough to book individually..

Its like i called the National Parks on Dec 28th ask for 5 slots, they say have.
Then i call on Dec 29th to confirm, they say all taken up.. All the bleddy travel agents and Tour agenices book everything up..

Anyway, go thru individual pay arnd 300RM for permit, guide, stay at Laba Rata, transport from airport to National Parks, cert.. etc.. But all must find on your own, so a bit hectic..

But go thru agent ah.. Everything they do for you.. very little hassle, more convienent too..

Since must book... are there like, organized groups?

Cos I'm not sure... in fact, I doubt I can convince any of my friends to make that trip. They're not exactly into things like that... family maybe, but that'll mean I have to endure my aunts' incessant nagging >_<

So if there're organized groups, I could book myself for one and then go alone and..... meet new people! Very Happy

AMS (A not P Laughing ) or altitude sickness can affect anyone, fit or not.
the best way is to build up on your cardiovascular fitness, and take it easy. If you're hit, the only cure will be to descend, then slowly make your way up again.
