There is a new version of the Spike.
The NLOS Spike has a 25 km range and can be
launched from vehicles, ships or helicopters. Instead of a
fibre optic cable as used by in the SAF Spike LR
version , the 70 kg NLOS Spike uses
a wireless link.
A very interesting weapon especially for ground forces
which can now call on a high precision army controlled weapon
to attack high value targets up to 25 km away. No need
to wait for an Apache or F16. Various warheads are also
available for NLOS.
Imagine being able to call on the NLOS Spike to take
out a heavy tank when one does not have a Spike LR
readily available.
There is currently no comparable operational weapon of this type
in the world.
Leveraging on an already proven system , this cud also be a very
cost effective weapon to posses.
