It differs for individuals...
Personally, I don't like phonecalls. A guy is very likely to annoy
me if he calls me up instead of texting, msning or emailing me. I
don't mind a phonecall if it's just to ask a simple question or say
something that doesn't take more than 2 minutes. Other than that,
it's points off.
And never call at late hours because people might be sleeping
already, even when you are not. 
i will be pissed. it happened before and i really hate it.
especially when for some funny reason they dont wanna tell you how
they got ur number.
I totally agree... Remember that ex-colleague of mine who
somehow got my number from some hula-land? That is still pretty
much a mystery to me.
