The President travels in a car bearing no registration plate,
with an Istana crest during official events, such as National Day
Parade and National Day Award Presentations. It's either a Mercedes
S-class or Lexus LS430. But sometimes during not-so-formal events,
he is also seen in a car with no registration. I once saw him on
Orchard Road, with 10 motorcycle outriders. Maybe this arrangement
is also for beating traffic jams.
Other times, he travels in SEP1, and yes, it means Singapore
Elected President. I saw it during the opening of National Library.
He was only escorted by one Volvo S70 and one motorcyle, meaning
this event might not be that important. It's a Lexus LS430.
SP1 is the official car for Speaker Abdulla Tarmugi. It either
means Singapore Parliament or Speaker of Paliament, I'm not sure. I
always see it outside his residence at Namly Avenue. It's a
Mercedes S280.
SJ1 is the number on Chief Justice Yong Pung How's car, the last
time I saw it, it was on a Lexus ES300.
