Hi newbie here,
juz pass my class 3A yesterday, thinking of getting a car
looking at a loan amt of 40k and at hatchbacks below 55k
interested in picanto, kelisa, or OPC/2nd hand ->vitz, march,
sirion and jazz/fit
any advice?
Siron is presently the hot pick. But both Picanto and Kelisa would
really make your life much easier because of cheapness. You can't
afford Jazz and Vitz might be a little on the high side too, for
the fact that it is a 1litre car. Vitz1.3, you can't afford.
With the price tag and limit set by you, can I say you have about
15k to pay for the downpayment? I hoped you are not planning to
take S$40k loan for 10 years. This is how some driver got stuck and
are working their butt off just to support a car they ain't going
to enjoy much in it too.
......
Considering Im a P plate & 1st time car buyer, 26, how much
insurance do I need to pay?
At 2 k, can be 3k or so.
How much cash do I
need to fork out upfront?
Is the any additional charges that I should
expect?
Upfront, 1/2 yr road tax and insurance. My advice is plus at least
another 20-30% of the car price for downpayment. As for charges,
Rule of thumb is usually S$500-S$700 car maintainence cost plus car
installment per month. This usually goes up to 1k or more for some,
my kelisa cost me S$500+S$500 per month, just for reference.
Is it possible to
convert a 2nd hand car to OPC before taking the loan? (just
curious)
No. Unless the pervious owner is willing to convert it before
handling it to you. Else you will have to take the full price of
the car and convert on your own, whereby only credits (not cash)
will be return to you.
