RSN hide or down play the harming function of LRAD--
LONG RANGE ACOUSTIC DEVICES
,which was featured in Future Weapon.
Singapore Technology exhibited it as early as early 2005 and
listed
it as product. But it has been removed fr product list.

In this article,RSN just says---
http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/publications/cyberpioneer/features/2009/mar09_cs.html
''In addition, the men on board the vessel did not
respond when a Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) was used in an
attempt to establish contact and determine their
intentions.''

The LRAD, which works like a loudhailer, enables the
MSTF's patrol vessel to communicate with small vessels to ascertain
the intentions of the crew and to verify their
identities.
In fact,it can make u deaf few hundred meter away!!

RSAF Safety Magazine Issue 58
jan 09--
''The Long-Range Acoustics Device (LRAD) is a new
bird dispersion device tested in November 2007
in two of our airbases. It works by transmitting
recorded birds distress calls up to a range of
500 to 1000m, and was demonstrated to be
very effective in scaring birds away. However, at
maximum volume, it emits a warning tone that is
higher than the normal human threshold of pain
(120 to 140 dB), which is capable of
damaging
hearing permanently. As LRAD
development
is still in the experimental stage, the RSAF will
continue to monitor this technology as it matures.
serve to contain the wild boar within their habitat
and thus reduce the risk of intrusion onto the
