Eric Carter, I see you're trying think out of the box or simply
trying to challenge the ground with flagrant ideas.
Back to rape and molestation - While I concur that being intimate
and physical with someone is great, the victim of rape or
molestation would think otherwise because their personal
freedom/rights as an individual is being infringed. The word is
moral.
Moral? It is a set of laws that constrain humanly desires. And this
set of laws does not derived from reasons. There are many schools
of thought pertaining to the origination of Moral Law. Some argued
that moral is a collection of a cultural community and is
collective across; others that moral is influenced by religions;
not to mention that moral is innate, just part of human nature. I
must admit I am not an expert on this - Moral is not my area of
interest nor subject of study. But I have personally read a few
philosophers and if it interests you, I'd recommend Kant's Moral
Philosophy for a start.
You mentioned that hundred of years ago when people believed the
notion that earth is flat and others who thought otherwise were
oppressed and even killed. That argument amused me.
Even before Archimedes managed to physically prove that the Earth
is round.
Aristotles, Pythogoras and quite a few others had already claimed
that the Earth is round for a myriad of reasons. And to entertain
you further, at the point of time when technology was much inferior
- it must had been of great difficulty to persuade to the masses
that Earth is not flat. How can you make a comparison with back
then and now, they didn't even have TV!
You chided someone for trying to put side-by-side rape/molestation
and being forced to drink water. I find that both laughable and
questionable, how can you compare the flat Earth notion with Moral
law? Physical Science and Philosophy, amigo.
I am delighted by zeal to learn, such "vehement" is admirable. But
it does not pay to be well read, if it does not provoke cognitive
process and thinking. Also, I'd advise you to interact more with
people in reality - you will benefit greatly.

Detached
