Are you sure it's aerodynamic reasons? Cannot be cost
cutting? 
Maybe Subaru figured that if they chopped off the boot, they
could have saved quite a bit from the reduced amount of steel used.
Subaru even omitted the frameless windows design from their latest
Impreza and Forester. A sad thing I must say. I always had a weird
fetish for frameless windows, it looks so sexy. 
Yes, the frameless windows were quite a plus point for the
previous Impreza..
Overall, while I admit that the current generation Impreza has a
much improved interior, the previous generation Impreza looked
better..
Though the new forester looks quite nice!
