Creative, WTF?

I own a Creative's Zen Vision: M

Yesterday I accidentally dropped it and now it cannot be on. So I went home to check if the warrenty is still valid. But sad to say it's already more then a year old.

Thus thinking I will have to pay for the service, I brought it to the one at Marina Square and asked how much will it cost to fix the player.

The person there quoted me $299, and told me that thats the price irregardless of that the problem is! I asked her how come so expensive, she only said thats the price which they fix.

Omg! You guys think I should still make a trip down to Jurong and ask them about it again? Would you guys pay for that $299 or rather buy a new one? Crying or Very sad

try this method:

take out the battery.
push the on switch and hold it there all the way.
then put the battery back.

see does it switch back on?

u shd bring to zhurong

but since no more wty, u have to pay for the diagnose
and when they check which part need to be replaced, they will tell u the price.....
if u dun want to repair, jus pay the service fee, take back ur zen and go home
if u agree to repair, u pay watever the price + service fee

Actually there’s a part at the screen a bit budging out… And I tried to push it back in but to no avail. Very difficult to explain here… Maybe I will post a picture of it and show you guys…

thumdrive uses flash memory drop aso nothing will happen 1...
ts' zen uses a hard drive, very fragile stuff... drop from any height and u can say bye bye to both the data and the player/drive Very Happy ... different things....

its a common problem with hard drive players incl. i pod...
eh... does the i pod have the technology like the ibm laptops and the sony harddisk player? where the device detects if it is falling, and shift the needle away from the disks?

Dun think so, since they are making them real slim. Also, Apple would want to add that under their features list if they really invest in the technology.

But I have dropped my mini like 20 plus times. Its edges already dented (reason why i keep it instead of trade in at ishop, it doesn't worth much liao). But still works wonders, except the battery life is terrible now.

You really need luck on this, sometimes a harddisk-based device never spoils no matter how you treat it, sometimes it crack on its first drop. Pity the TS, how much is that player anyway? Charged 200 plus for repair Confused

try this:

step 1: slide the power switch to the 'on' position n hold it there
step 2: get a paper clip n insert into the 'reset' hole below (while still holding on to the power switch)
step 3: keep holding on to the power switch at the 'on' postion for 3-5 sec

do u c it enter into 'recovery mode'? if not, u can bring down to the jurong HQ n let the technicians take a look liao.

Thanks for the tip, but it's not working... I think the batt has already drained out, and now canot even charge... When I try charging, there's only the blue light at the power area. But it's not blinking (meaning not charging). I guess it's really dying. Crying or Very sad

easy, u just go to the creative hq at jurong east. then u tell them tat the vision is a fren give u de. then u say u cannot find the warrenty but u remember tat yr fren bought it 5 mths ago as u were there with him. they will repair for u foc. at least for my case =)
