Like someone said, "End of the World" may mean"End of All Life"
or "End of Humans" or "End of Society".
Well, End of All Life may seem a bit too scary. Unless our Sun
dies, or the Earth explodes or something along this line...
End of Human does not sound too plausible to me, but I can think of
a few scenarios (movies style) whereby it is possible.
