The zoo, back in maybe 2000 or before, was really a great zoo
for education and conservation, under the leadership of Bernard
Harrison - the CEO of Singapore Zoo from 1990s to 2002. It was a
zoo with a soul.
And also under his leadership and initiatives, we have the first
Night Safari in the world.
He has left the post of CEO a few years ago, but many hospitality
industry ppl and media still remember him as the Zoo's man.
The current management has lotsa exposure, publicity and press
releases on themselves esp on Ms Fanny Lai. But these days people
still don't really know who she is. I hope they can get Bernard
Harrison back to lead the zoo. He's the guy with Charisma! During
his time, all staff, from the junior zookeepers to the directors,
all loved Bernard Harrison. They all work for the passion for the
job and the company.
For the purpose of making the zoo a place to educate our future
generations about wildlife conservation, the zoo should be led by a
person with zoological background or training in veterinarian.
