at the end of the day, we have to view languages from a value
position.
what value does hokkien have in today's world, other than a passing
reminscence, tradition's sake (that's the thing i hate most) and to
communicate with elders?
with proficiency in english and mandarin, we're already fit to
communicate with a large percentage of the world. i rather not
burden myself, or future singaporeans to juggle yet another
language (or dialect for that matter).
if you really want proficiency in another language, perhaps the
next useful one is japanese.
