Long hair is NOT untidy (For NSmen only)

Well most guys in my ICT have short hair to begin with and only a handful with long hair.

So in any case cutting hair should not be an issue and hair will grow again.

I'm just saying if you want to keep your long hair. Keep away from the enciks and you'll do fine. Usually the enciks will aim more than the PCs...

you fucking Agua, they make people cut hair because it is the army and it is supposed to be uniform, if everyone have all sorts of hairstyles then how the fuck do you have discipline, it will be like a circus. moreover, if during war your head get hit by shrapnel, good luck because the medic wont bother to cut your long hair to sort out the mess.

I guess there are a few reasons for keeping the hair short...

1) Image. So as not to look like a motley crew of guerilla army. Which professional army in the world allow their soldiers to keep long hair?

2) Hygiene. Imagine how dirty your hair will get if you are out in the field for extended periods. Heck, even one day, one night outfield will make your hair as clean as a broom!

To me personally, I have no problem with keeping short hair cos that has been my style for the longest time. It's neat and tidy. And you can easily style it to look good. Look at all the hollywood stars, none of the guys keep long hair, or not many. While I do not berate your choice of hair style, I personally find having long hair for guys a little sissy. Especially for those who are not suitable for it. But well, that's just me.

for one it limits the length of your hair cos every year got to cut. or half year or few months if you suay.

+ it takes a few months to grow to normal length is your normal length is quite long.

looking neat shouldn't be top priority for a civilian army.

i AGREE FULLY. We are a civilian army, we are not regulars, we have already make big sacrifices to our personal and professional life by commiting 2 years to the country defence. Why continue the same treatment after we are disrupted?

Basially this rule means no singaporean man can have long hair or dyed hair unless you are over 40 or even 50. Is that not too harsh? I don't see the NEED to disrupt our civilian lifestyle for a 2 week thing per year. It is illogical.

I think we should be given the choice to have long hair or not. If SAF is scared about image, then make sure everybody in ICT change into civilian clothes before book out?

Also there is no point talking about wartime long hair all these because when we are in non war situation like none, things are suppose to be different, if got war, hair will be a small issue don't you think?

Just because it's a old rule does not make it is good forever. Nowadays we are a modern society and we should always look to challenge ideas and rulings that is illogical or unfair or simply outdated and be flexible or else we will never improve.

i think a platoon of soldiers with varying lengths and colour of hair is a joke.

and no one should complain about ns. the only reason why such a pathetically small country like us has more say and power than we should in the region is because our army is not something other countries can kick around easily.
