Some(not all) of the garments sold in the shops are pre-washed,
some are not.
Those that are pre-washed, they will shrink less. Because the
garment manufacturer tested the shrinkage rate before manufacturing
the acutal garments, then they will add a few cm(depending on the
rate) when they make it. Before shipping to the export countries,
they will send the garments to industrail luandry factroy to wash
it(might add chemicals to improve hand feel). These garments wont
shrink too much after you buy it from shop and wash it at
home.
Denim garments are all pre-washed.(If not they are super hard for
something you wear on your body)
Knitted wear(like cotton t-shirts) hard to say, depends on
manufacturer/brands.
Woven wear(like shirts/khaki pants) are mostly pre-washed.
For those not pre-washed, they tend to shrink more.
Yes, FI, tumble dry will tend to make the garments shrink. Washing
with warm(or even hot?) water also.
