well, this thought came about when i was cleaning off some of the bird poo on my car.. i use isopropyl-alcohol napkins to wipe off the stuff.. and the napkins were for disinfecting of hands during the SARS period..

was watching the news and it said that bird flu is transmitted through the droppings of birds...

so.. think about it.. that yukky bird poo on your car could be the stuff which may infect you.. if the bird is infected, you're in trouble...

that's when i thought... hmm.. using of the isopropyl-alcohol napkins is good.. since the alcohol will kill anything it comes into contact with.. and will not harm the paintwork of the car..

so, hey guys, do be safe yah?

buy a pack of the napkins to clean that bird poo.. goodness knows what is flying up there Wink

my car always get hit at bedok 85. usually my car would be peppered with bird shyt by the time i finish my "bah chor mee".

get a piece of tissue paper, then spit on it. try to make it as wet as possible. then rub hard over the shyt. it works all the time for me. spit wont harm the paintwork, and... mother nature is always trying to get the better of us..

*note: and of course, always tear your parking coupon when you're at 85, the parking wardens swarm like flies. my friend just got hit with a good 30 bucks. better $1 than $30.*

000ooooo 85 bah chor mee. how is it? heard so much must go try it liao.

anyway for me i have a bottle of tap water in my boot. when i see bird poo poo i will use a tissue wet it with the water and wipe it ASAP before any further damage is done.

about the alchohol napkin, u sure its ok to use on carS? wouldn't the alchohol base damage ur lacquer?

Hi all...

From my personal experience, when you see bird poo, better clean it ASAP....after it's "baked" by the sun.....it will eat into your paintwork...

I once had a dunno what bird pooed on my car....the poo left some lasting stains on the car...I had to use car polish to remove it!

Viruses need to be inside cells to harm you; we get flu from one another by droplets (like when friends sneezes, you breathe in the droplets and get the flu). For those overseas who got bird flu, they’re in close contact with the birds (ie chicken farmers) so they get exposed to a lot of this. Don’t be overly worried about the whole birdshit thing, it doesn’t really spread that way. But do clean it off fast as it is acidic and can eat into your wax and then paint layer. I don’t think the alcohol swabs might be good for the paint (it’s 70% so pretty strong) but can use on windscreen…also get rid of juddering of the wipers haha.

It’s not theory it’s true! That’s why in general we can’t really treat viral infections, unlike bacteria which we can use antibiotics since they’re too big to go into cells. Got to learn something from you, that bird shit has so much uric acid. Pisses me off when they shit on the car after it’s waxed. Even after cleaning it off there’s still a mark where it’s eaten through the wax.

Yup, the stain somehow seeped into the paint work of my previous ride when I tended to it late. Man lived with it until now. Sure make me want to go to do protection coating for my coming ride.

Seriously, deal with the bird droppings ASAP.
Clean it off while wet.
Or soften it with water before wiping off, hardened poo will scratch the body too.
