well....looks like......arr...i only getting gpa of 2.66.... but i juz completed year 1 still got two more years to chiong!

I would like to ask if its really very very difficult for poly graduates to enter university?
I have read some online articles and many were saying that poly is like the chances is almost near to 0. But there are others who said other wise too.
Cause i can actually qualify for a better JC too, so did i make the wrong choice as what the article said its most probably a wrong move?
Also, its said that a gpa of 3.5 and above will have a higher chance of securing a place in the uni, how true issit, and is it very difficult to obtain this score?

ouh.. but poly cert better than jc cert leh.. if u get a jc cert but very lousy grades and cannot enter uni, then u comfirm die liao.. but if u go poly and connot go uni in the end, u won't die.. at lease get a job of at lease $1500 per month..

gps wise, i think if u work hard, u can get it.. no need to think so much about that factor.. u also can apply scholarship in poly to go for further studies ma.

Poly -> results average -> oversea Uni -> work 2 yrs,continue taking MBA ,CPA etc
JC -> result good -> local Uni -> work 2 yrs,continue taking MBA,CPA etc

It the same,it just that JC shorter time higher chance to local Uni,but eventually in the end,it not much different,i have seen alot of NUS,NTU grad after getting their degree continue study ACCA leh,isn't it the same with poly grad then study ACCA also?
In sg ,if you have hands and legs,you won't die . Laughing

haha, ok. thanks a lot ppl. Cause i heard a lot of rumours that poly and uni are both tertiary edu which prepares for the working life. So after poly, its most probably into the workforce already and not more on the academic area.

This is true durning my times in poly in 1999
Now if you want to get higher salary,you have to get a degree,the govt make it this way so no choice.Hhaha now you may be worry about Uni
who know in a few years times people of your age will have to start to worry about what master you going to have and whether to take up PHD or not ,nobody know what will happened in the furture,so now you worry also no use,just think it simple,you like to study in JC or poly?Which one suit you?

O level results very poor -> take private dip -> go study oversea Uni -> work 2 yrs, then MBA,CPA

hahaha in the end also like that,you have to work hard no matter where you are in.

Well, poly diplomas are paying better dividends as compared to an A level holder. With a poly diploma, you cane start off with a salary of 2k. The highest was 3k for 2006 according to recent graduates survey.

Currently, 75% of uni intakes are JC students, but that may change in the future when the Unis start recognising the ability and talents of poly students.

Some foreign employers dont give a shit to what JC or poly you come from. They look at your ability to perform well in the job. ANd they assess you based on psychometric test and interviews. And Foreign employers usually offers you a higher remuneration.

My GPA is slightly lesser than 3.5, this year sure have to chiong to get good grades. I have no excuse for not performing well, it's my choice and my favourite course. If not parents will hantum me.

GPA 3.5< will increase your chances of getting into a poly, This is TRUE! If you're actively participating in CCA, this will give you more chance. Of course, the NUS addmission computes reusult using 80% Poly result and 20% O level result. I am not sure about how other Uni works.

Ask yourself what's the use of having GPA 3.5+Good CCA with 30 points for O level.

Diploma holders does get some advantage as compared to JC A level.

Diplomas holder will be more in demand as they are equipped with practical and technical knowledge. Their salary maybe be range from $1600 to <$2000.

Successful Diploma holder who are enrolled into University will have more module credit exemptions thus completing their basic degree in shorter time.

One main disadvantage of getting a diploma is that the whole coure takes about 3 years in any Big5(NP,SP,TP,NYP,RP) polytechnics.

On the other hand, you'll only need 2 years to obtain an A level cert.

A Level holder are not as popular as Diplomas holders. Their salary usually range from $1300 to <$1800.

Satistic have shown that 75*% who took A level when to University.

A level holders does not have much module credits exemptions.
