The Dragon 120mm Mortar comapred to our 120mm Super Rapid

The US claim they have a break through
and Singapore claim it is self developed

So, which comes first? Question

gary1910 SG

I think abt the same time but they are 2 different system.

For example , our SRAMS has max rate of fire 18rds per min whereas the Dragon system only 10 rds per min , that is due to STK 's patented cooling system which yield this higher rate of fire.

Our SRAMS also has the world lowest recoil of less than 20tons plus it only weight 1200kg which enable it to be mounted on a very light weight 4x4 like the HUMVEE and Spider LSV.

So can Dragon system or any other mortar system do that?
I dun think so!

In fact , based on the above , our SRAMS is much better than the Dragon system.

Then perhaps we can compete for any possible future contract just like what we did with the BX and Ultimax. Hopefully politics won't prevail over actual capability of the products.

AFAIK, SRAMS has already make a sales of 48 system to UAE.

The Americans are just being patriotic and protectionist. For example, all their military clothing and equipment must be made in US to protect their own textile industries. They will be even more protectionist on their weapons systems. To them, Made in USA=Good, Made in Singapore=Made in China= Bad Laughing

tankee1981 SG

Thanks, thats good news! A little step forward... Very Happy

This is a US show about military procurement in the US. There is mention of Singapore and our Ultimax SAW! This show will give an idea on why US soldiers are still using the M4(a shortened M16) and why our Ultimax is not chosen.

the dragon fire dev started in 1997…so the SRAMS start when?

tripwire SG

it not who started first that count.. but who finished the development first thats important....

the germans started the rocket... but its the americans that landed on the moon. Mr. Green

but frankly..i have no idea when SRAMS started development... afterall... since when did DSTA and DSO ever announce all the project in public? Rolling Eyes

Actually I feel that this program quite pro-US.. so not surprizing that they only featured their own home made stuffs..

Pitot SG

because the show is made in USA by USA crew intended for the USA market.

But, discovery choose to braodcast it over their other channels.
