spartan6 SG First pic must be Sri Indera Sakti if e number is 1503 or Mahawangsa if e number is 1504. It surely look like 1503 2 me
Obersturmfuhrer SG If these are confirmed as RMN ships then I think I have them spot on since I was able to spot most of their pennant numbers but was unable to capture them sharply with my camera. Now here's a transport ship that came by today. And as promised, RSS Formidable on her run.
ChineseJunk SG Now here's a transport ship that came by today. Glenn Braveheart? And as promised, RSS Formidable on her run.
Paintwork looks kind of faded on the radar mast and A-gun.
Black Aces SG Har? How come Obersturmfuhrer & CJ's pics (& the remarks) are the same? You guys in the same camp/base is it? hee hee
Obersturmfuhrer SG The usage of quotation gone wrong. He forgot to edit the quoatation marks when he entered his remarks after each picture. Glenn Braveheart's the name of that ship? Where is it from?
ChineseJunk SG Am at airport... typing from memory. Glenn Braveheart, ex-RSS Perseverance, ex-Lowland Lancer (operated as a casino ship off South Africa), ex- RFA Sir Lancelot. Falklands War veteran. She looks heavily laden....
Obersturmfuhrer SG So what exactly is its current status? I recall the ship was laden with quite a few vehicles but can’t make out what because of the distance and the lack of binoculars at that point in time.
Viper52 SG Glenn Braveheart/RSS Preserverance has been sold by the RSN to Glenn Marine, a “contractor” after her decomissioning from the RSN after the arrival of the Endurance-class LST/LSDs.
spartan6 SG I thought RSS Preserverance had being converted into a training vessel for submarine crew or something n is painted white n red 2 reflect it status as a non-combat ship
Viper52 SG Not AFAIK, where did you get that info from might I ask? Anyway, heres something about her current status: http://www.clydesite.co.uk/clydebuilt/viewship.asp?id=837
ChineseJunk SG She sported the orange hull and white superstructure colour scheme after she was transferred to the merchant marine flying the blue Singapore ensign. The ship was used for submarine rescue and had a decompression chamber on board - a role now assumed by Kendrick. Glenn Defence repainted the ship grey.
CenturionMBT SG Paintwork looks kind of faded on the radar mast and A-gun.
Is it me or are they using a two tone grey for the formidable class?
Black Aces SG Originally posted by Bhagat: Indian warship armed with Brahmos visited Singapore during SIMBEX 2005 Brahmos? That weapon is operational (back in 2005)? I had the impression that it is still currently undergoing trials, let alone operational
Bhagat SG Brahmos is operational with the Indian navy's only warship INS Rajput (which also acted as a trial platform to test the Brahmos) and the remaining ships will be armed with it. Also the next class of destroyers and frigates currently under construction in India and Russia will be armed with the brahmos in Vertical launch mode. The army version trail in the thar desert was a success and it is said that within a year the serial production of the army missile is going to begin. The air-launched version is currently under development and it will take atleast two years before induction into the Indian Air Force. INS Rajput is currently in Bangkok Pride of Indian Navy throws open its door to the people of Bangkok http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2006/06/18/headlines/headlines_30006712.php
