it does not matter wad the car price was at that time but how much u actually bought that car for? so if you buy at $82k and ur present car should be able to get about $42k u haf lost $40k over the 3yrs which is 13.3k per annum. but if u do a trade in instead the dealer can offer more for ur car.

i bought my previous ride at 78k and sold at $43k cuz i did a trade in. which is in actual fact abt 2k more den wad other dealers offer me. so if u conside 78-41k = 37k and i drove that car for 2 and a half years it amounts to 14.8k per annum.

but despite losing so much i still change cuz i got a 2nd hand car dat would allow me to get back more money in 2yrs time den if i stick to the previous car. And it was an upgrade too a bigger and better car.

sometimes its not the price that matters, its wad u get at the end of it too. and of cuz ur preference and financial preferences

U forgot 1 very important thing. In 1990s, it is a must to pay a 30% cash deposit so confirm lower loan
But den now u can get 100% loan or even more then that especially between 2002 - 2004.

Alternatively u can compare the paper rebate for a car now or and the paper rebate for a car in the 1990s

juz a note, in 1990s a corolla is 100+k now is 60+k.

If you took a 10 year ZERO Driveaway loan ... hold on to the car for at least 7 years, then you can just break even. Meaning you can sell off the car, and the value would be enough to pay off the remainder of the loan you took.
