In Singapore, gunshot wounds are rare, not to mention in the
head.
The survival rate will depend greatly on which part of the skull /
head the bullet end up with.
Most prob this patient will be send to CT or MRI/MRA brain onces
vitals are being stablize in the resus room.
If the bullet end up anywhere lodged in the skull (as it is very
thick and vascular) at the most, there will be massive bleeding,
but will be stopped with pressure bandage and sitches after the
bullet is being removed.
If the bullet end up in any part of the brain, with no exit wound,
then the Neuro surgeons may ask for further investigations, for the
exact location of the bullets. Depending on the location of where
the bullet is lodged, sometimes removal will cause more harm then
good.
If bullet is being hit at the back of the head hitting C1/C2 or the
thalamic, most prob will be death on the spot.
