Can singapore handle a total war scenario?

rooki SG

I’ll give sg 2 weeks before either complete destruction or surrender.

Completely flawed assessment.

First of all the we don't have that many soldiers.

Secondly, in most modern armies, the ratio of support (non-combat) troops is often more than 50% of total.

Possibly higher.

Singapore is too tiny a country to fight a modern war & without some big brothers backing or acting as a deterrent against the bigger countries around us, we will never be able to win notwithstanding our so called superior weapons as compared to our neighbours.

damienthedevil SG

If we are talking about total war in S. E. Asia -

We are geared to fight at two war front simultaneously.

One a forward movement up north ( the so called mersing line ) and a holding position down south ( The whole of Riau ). It will be a short and fast campaign, to basically get our neighbours to agreed to our terms. If it fails, we will be having coffee with the Thais at Hatyai while holding the Indons at bay in a stalemate.

Whatever the outcome will be, both south part of W. Malaysia and the Riau Island group will become Singapura land. The negative factor is due to constraints we are not able to engage in a protracted war If it really happens.
We are talking about at least 250,000 men in arms.

sorry posted reply in wrong topic

Of course, this is assuming that both of them will be the biggest threat.

If SEA is embroiled in a total war triggered by extra-regional powers, what then?

Projection over land won't be the first of our priorities. There won't be Matador Mk2.

chino65 SG

Theoretically, we are geared to " defend " ourselves simultaneously in all 4 directions.

Whether or not we will be successful can never be guaranteed.

one word ----> Cannot

WAIT!!! got more words!!

SG can make nukes ornot ar?

NotFromVenus SG

Why does the motion be passed in the Direction of War?

U think people really nothing to do ar , destroy or take over but cannot handle the over "foreign" populated Island in which the "FT People" will all run away, leaving behind brainless people whom the taking over government will have to feed from their own pockets?

The Elites will be laughing in Switzerland at the invader's plights.

ok.

so, we have 150K of SG's prime (or is it primates? LOL) bound for front line duties, 150K for rear line duties, 150K for home defense (front yard), 150K for home defense (kitchen) and 600K outbound.

Not exactly like that.

Some of the support troops still has to come along, too. People like QM, MT line, HQ, MO etc
