i think the problem with the latio is both in its looks (it is rather squarish and boxy and hence its back makes it look horrible), and its name (latio.. hm....

Cant reali decide which model to choose.

Price latio premium more city IDSI about $3k.
However generally latio sports a good ride. City has a better "feel" but seriously at $ 3k it has no kit, fog amps, armrest etc.

VTEC is almost the same as latio in terms of price. Heard that it is nosier than the IDSI version. However still feel that HONDA cars are generally overprice as it realy offer nothing exciting at all.
But the FC do reali interests me alot!

Any comments from bro out there?

Maybe you should also check the OMV to compare which is better value
Each car has their own plus points and own minus points, so you have to see which suits you better at the test drive

....for the money u pay, it is the latio but not the premium nor sports. Choose the latio std with normal auto trans.
I took this model because both city and latio premium have CVT trans. One big weakness of cvt is it has a belt/pully system in the cvt which have a life span of 150000 km ( about 7yrs ). If the belt snaps it means the gearbox have to be changed...very costly. So if u r unlucky this can happen earlier than full life span.
Besides the cvt doesnt give u the kick on gear shifts....but cvt is smoother and gets 10% better FC.
The Latio is great esp the keyless entry and starting. My keys r always in the pocket never need to take out. The rear seat leg space is the best among cat A cars. As it was launch only in Mar this yr few people realise how great this car is....esp now the price is 60k. when launched it was 78K... U save 18k in 7 mths.
It is also Japan made unlike City. OMV is about the same as City Vtec.

i like Latio's interior and its proximity entry control system. but exterior sux.

May I also add that cvt gearbox cannot be repaired when somethin is wrong. It has to be changed for a new one.

Forgot to mention that Latio looks esp the rear puts people off. Well looks always subjective. For me looks is secondary to other more impt aspects. When u r inside driving the car u cant appreciate the looks. Besides if car is so attractive to look at, u will likely to attract more attention and more scratches from itchy hands!

The price is actually less than 60K after all the discounts etc.

Very happy Latio owner.

It is quite chio, but if the tpoic starter compares it with a city which is a sedan, i think he is looking at the sedan version which looks ugly.

The Latio is in a different league compared to the City. No fight at all, to be honest.

The looks of the Latio gradually grows on you. I see a fully kitted Latio quite frequently, and i dare say if the car is lowered, it'd look as good as any other sedan.

You brought up some interesting points.

FC wise the Latio might lose out to the City, but at 14-15km/L, the Latio is hardly a slouch.

Comfort wise & Engine reliability wise, how does a Latio lose out to a City?

And looks wise, the City with its pig snout, short front and weird rear looks just plain weird.

Hi all,

We are here to give opinions, not to fight over it as every car has their own pros and cons, and atttact pple from diff background. Esp with some Latio & city owners ard.

I don't own either of them, but giving my personal opinion, i seriously doubt that the Latio can get 14-15km/l. Nissan are petrol drinker (my 1st car is a nissan), thus in FC aspect, i think the City will win hands down.

Have not tried either of the car so no comment on the quality, but i do agree that the hatchback version of Latio tends to look better, and more sporty for younger driver.

The reason why i will choose city is cos of its vtec engine. My 2nd car is a civic, and though nowsday vtec engine dun forcus on power, its very smooth.

Like i mentioned, personal opinion.

yes u r rite. buyin a car ultimately is personal...u pay u decide. nissan,toyota n honda r all gd car manufacturers. i hav owned all 3 in my 43 yrs of drivin.

Looks is vry subjective n secondary for me in choosin a car. Its other aspects like, reliable, practical, low maintenance which r more impt.

My nissan sunny ss manual served me vry well. after 4 yrs no problem at all n i spent $0 on repairs other than the normal svcing. Even the original battery still working when i traded in the sunny for the latio last mth.

I think a honda can last longer, but nowadays, people seem to change cars every five years....
My dad's concerto lasted 6 years longer than a nissan presea he once drove. Laughing

Not too sure about them new cars though.
