In the early days of the SAF
development, the SAF Combat Engineers had some Israeli doctrine
that trained our SAF Pioneers in the art of deception.
A whole battalion of camouflaged ''tanks'' can be realistically
developed in a wooded laager area, and air photography will not be
able to tell the difference.
False infra-red signature can be induced to enhance the deception,
if such air recon assets are used by the Opposition to further
clarify any doubt to such a ''deployment''.
The use of camouflage on a grand scale during WW2 had resulted in
several successes for the allies.
Some of the most notable success in deception on a grand scale
began during the built-up to the Battle of El Alamein, when a
phantom army was created by the British Field Marshall Montgomery
to deceive his German arch-rival General Rommel, and concealed the
thrust of the real British troop movement.
Another success in deception was when the Allied Command created
massive dummy invasion force - complete with dummy tanks,
artillery, vehicle assembly points, and troop acomodation - and
allowed Germany recon aircrafts to photograph the built-up with
some ''token fierce resistance''.
This deception resulted in the German efforts being concentrated at
the wrong place to resist the speculated landing sites.
As one move around in this Little Red Dot, can anyone be certain as
to what one see ?
